Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of lldpad installed on the remote host is prior to 1.0.1-5.git036e314. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1637 advisory.

- lldptool version 1.0.1 and older can print a raw, unsanitized attacker controlled buffer when mngAddr information is displayed. This may allow an attacker to inject shell control characters into the buffer and impact the behavior of the terminal. (CVE-2018-10932)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update lldpad' to update your system.
