Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ELSA-2021-1608 advisory.

- CVE-2020-36242: Fixed a bug where certain sequences of update() calls when symmetrically encrypting very large payloads (>2GB) could result in an integer overflow, leading to buffer overflows.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Oracle Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected python3-cryptography package.
