Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-4955 advisory.

- Stack buffer overflow in libspf2 versions below 1.2.11 when processing certain SPF macros can lead to Denial of service and potentially code execution via malicious crafted SPF explanation messages.
(CVE-2021-20314)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the libspf2 packages.

For the stable distribution (buster), this problem has been fixed in version 1.2.10-7.1~deb10u1.
