openSUSE 15 Security Update : isync (openSUSE-SU-2021:1170-1)

high Nessus Plugin ID 152730

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SUSE15 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the openSUSE-SU-2021:1170-1 advisory.

- A flaw was found in mbsync before v1.3.6 and v1.4.2, where an unchecked pointer cast allows a malicious or compromised server to write an arbitrary integer value past the end of a heap-allocated structure by issuing an unexpected APPENDUID response. This could be plausibly exploited for remote code execution on the client. (CVE-2021-3578)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected isync package.
