Synopsis

Tenable Nessus running on the remote host is affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the Tenable Nessus application running on the remote host is prior or equal to 8.15.2. It is, therefore, affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability which could allow an authenticated, local administrator to run specific executables on the Nessus Agent host.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Tenable Nessus version 8.15.3, 10.0.0, or later.
