Debian DLA-2812-1 : botan1.10 - LTS security update

medium Nessus Plugin ID 155013

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-2812 advisory.

- A cryptographic cache-based side channel in the RSA implementation in Botan before 1.10.17, and 1.11.x and 2.x before 2.3.0, allows a local attacker to recover information about RSA secret keys, as demonstrated by CacheD. This occurs because an array is indexed with bits derived from a secret key. (CVE-2017-14737)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the botan1.10 packages.

For Debian 9 stretch, this problem has been fixed in version 1.10.17-1+deb9u1.
