Liferay Portal 7.3.2 < 7.3.6 XSS

medium Nessus Plugin ID 155731

Synopsis

An application running on a remote web server host is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

Liferay Portal 7.3.2 prior to 7.3.6 is affected by a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in its redirect module component due to improper validation of user-supplied input before returning it to users. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted URL, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Liferay Portal 7.3 CE GA7 (7.3.6).
