Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-2854 advisory.

- An XSS vulnerability was discovered in noVNC before 0.6.2 in which the remote VNC server could inject arbitrary HTML into the noVNC web page via the messages propagated to the status field, such as the VNC server name. (CVE-2017-18635)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the novnc packages.

For Debian 9 stretch, this problem has been fixed in version 1
