Synopsis

The remote AlmaLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote AlmaLinux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALSA-2020:5393 advisory.

 - In exif_entry_get_value of exif-entry.c, there is a possible out of bounds write due to an integer overflow. This could lead to remote code execution if a third party app used this library to process remote image data with no additional execution privileges needed. Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libexif and / or libexif-devel packages.
