Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 / 11 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5072 advisory.

- It was discovered, that debian-edu-config, a set of configuration files used for the Debian Edu blend, before 2.12.16 configured insecure permissions for the user web shares (~/public_html), which could result in privilege escalation. (CVE-2021-20001)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the debian-edu-config packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 2.11.56+deb11u3.
