Synopsis

A mail client installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Thunderbird installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 91.6.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2022-07 advisory.

- It may be possible for an attacker to craft an email message that causes Thunderbird to perform an out-of- bounds write of one byte when processing the message. (CVE-2022-0566)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Thunderbird version 91.6.1 or later.
