Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5293-1 advisory.

Aaron Massey discovered that c3p0 could be made to crash when parsing certain input. An attacker able to modify the application's XML configuration file could cause a denial of service.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libc3p0-java package.
