RHEL 8 : Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.2 (openstack-neutron) (RHSA-2022:0996)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 159197

Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.2 (openstack-neutron).

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2022:0996 advisory.

OpenStack Networking (neutron) is a virtual network service for OpenStack.
Just as OpenStack Compute (nova) provides an API to dynamically request and configure virtual servers, OpenStack Networking provides an API to dynamically request and configure virtual networks. These networks connect 'interfaces' from other OpenStack services (e.g. virtual NICs from Compute VMs). The OpenStack Networking API supports extensions to provide advanced network capabilities (e.g. QoS, ACLs, network monitoring, etc.)

Security Fix(es):

* Routes middleware memory leak for nonexistent controllers (CVE-2021-40797)

For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page listed in the References section.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Red Hat Enterprise Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.2 (openstack-neutron) package based on the guidance in RHSA-2022:0996.
