Synopsis

IBM Java is affected a vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM Java installed on the remote host is prior to 8.0 < 8.0.6.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the IBM Security Update November 2019 advisory.

 - From Eclipse OpenJ9 0.15 to 0.16, access to diagnostic operations such as causing a GC or creating a diagnostic file are permitted without any privilege checks. (CVE-2019-17631)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the appropriate patch according to the IBM Security Update November 2019 advisory.
