F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP APM vulnerability (K57555833)

high Nessus Plugin ID 160556

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 15.1.5.1 / 16.1.2.2 / 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K57555833 advisory.

- On 16.1.x versions prior to 16.1.2.2 and 15.1.x versions prior to 15.1.5.1, BIG-IP APM does not properly validate configurations, allowing an authenticated attacker with high privileges to manipulate the APM policy leading to privilege escalation/remote code execution. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated (CVE-2022-27634)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K57555833.
