Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of microcode_ctl installed on the remote host is prior to 2.1-47. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2022-1800 advisory.

- Processor optimization removal or modification of security-critical code for some Intel(R) Processors may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable information disclosure via local access.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update microcode_ctl' to update your system.
