high Nessus Plugin ID 162753

Synopsis

The remote Atlassian Jira host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Atlassian Jira installed on the remote host is prior to < 8.13.18 / 8.14.x < 8.20.6 / 8.21.x < 8.22.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the JRASERVER-73594 advisory.

- Affected versions of Atlassian Jira Server and Data Center allow attackers with administrator privileges to bypass WebSudo validation in order to toggle JMX monitoring, via a Broken Access Control vulnerability in the JmxMonitoringAction.jspa endpoint. The affected versions are before version 8.13.18, from version 8.14.0 before 8.20.6, and from version 8.21.0 before 8.22.0. _Affected versions:_ * version < 8.13.18 * 8.14.0 version < 8.20.6 * 8.21.0 version < 8.22.0 _Fixed versions:_ * 8.13.18 * 8.20.6 * 8.22.0 (atlassian-JRASERVER-73594)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Jira version 8.13.18, 8.20.6, 8.22.0 or later.
