Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

IBM WebSphere Application Server installed on the remote host is 8.5 prior to 8.5.5.23 or 9.0 prior to 9.0.5.14 or does not have the Interim Fix PH46332 installed. This vulnerability allows users to embed arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted session.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.23, 9.0.5.14 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH50116.
