Debian DSA-5194-1 : booth - security update

medium Nessus Plugin ID 163656

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 / 11 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5194 advisory.

- The authfile directive in the booth config file is ignored, preventing use of authentication in communications from node to node. As a result, nodes that do not have the correct authentication key are not prevented from communicating with other nodes in the cluster. (CVE-2022-2553)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the booth packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 1.0-237-gdd88847-2+deb11u1.
