Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for pcre2.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2022:5809 advisory.

- pcre2: Out-of-bounds read in compile_xclass_matchingpath in pcre2_jit_compile.c (CVE-2022-1586)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL pcre2 package based on the guidance in RHSA-2022:5809.
