Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3106 advisory.

- A flaw was found in python-oslo-utils. Due to improper parsing, passwords with a double quote ( ) in them cause incorrect masking in debug logs, causing any part of the password after the double quote to be plaintext. (CVE-2022-0718)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the python-oslo.utils packages.

For Debian 10 Buster, these problems have been fixed in version 3.36.5-0+deb10u2.
