SUSE SLED15 / SLES15 Security Update : libtirpc (SUSE-SU-2022:3305-1)

high Nessus Plugin ID 165249

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLED15 / SLED_SAP15 / SLES15 / SLES_SAP15 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2022:3305-1 advisory.

- In libtirpc before 1.3.3rc1, remote attackers could exhaust the file descriptors of a process that uses libtirpc because idle TCP connections are mishandled. This can, in turn, lead to an svc_run infinite loop without accepting new connections. (CVE-2021-46828)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libtirpc-devel, libtirpc-netconfig, libtirpc3 and / or libtirpc3-32bit packages.
