Dotnetnuke < 9.11.0 Relative Path Traversal

medium Nessus Plugin ID 166132

Synopsis

An ASP.NET application running on the remote web server is affected by a relative path traversal vulnerability.

Description

A directory traversal vulnerability exists in DotNetNuke due to insufficient sanitization of user controlled data. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by sending a URI that contains directory traversal characters, to disclose the contents of files located outside of the server's restricted path.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Dotnetnuke version 9.11.0 or later.
