Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to python3.

Description

The version of python3 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.9.15. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2022-286-01 advisory.

- libexpat before 2.4.9 has a use-after-free in the doContent function in xmlparse.c. (CVE-2022-40674)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected python3 package.
