Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for protobuf.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2022:7970 advisory.

- protobuf: Incorrect parsing of nullchar in the proto symbol leads to Nullptr dereference (CVE-2021-22570)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL protobuf package based on the guidance in RHSA-2022:7970.
