AlmaLinux 9 : libtirpc (ALSA-2022:8400)

high Nessus Plugin ID 167836

Synopsis

The remote AlmaLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote AlmaLinux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALSA-2022:8400 advisory.

- In libtirpc before 1.3.3rc1, remote attackers could exhaust the file descriptors of a process that uses libtirpc because idle TCP connections are mishandled. This can, in turn, lead to an svc_run infinite loop without accepting new connections. (CVE-2021-46828)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libtirpc and / or libtirpc-devel packages.
