Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3233 advisory.

- An issue in the Leptonica linked library (v1.79.0) allows attackers to cause an arithmetic exception leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted JPEG file. (CVE-2022-38266)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the leptonlib packages.

For Debian 10 buster, this problem has been fixed in version 1.76.0-1+deb10u2.
