Amazon Linux 2 : 389-ds-base (ALAS-2021-1650)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 169520

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of 389-ds-base installed on the remote host is prior to 1.3.10.2-12. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1650 advisory.

When binding against a DN during authentication, the reply from 389-ds-base will be different whether the DN exists or not. This can be used by an unauthenticated attacker to check the existence of an entry in the LDAP database. (CVE-2020-35518)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update 389-ds-base' to update your system.
