Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5362 advisory.

- An out-of-bounds read in the BGP daemon of FRRouting FRR before 8.4 may lead to a segmentation fault and denial of service. This occurs in bgp_capability_msg_parse in bgpd/bgp_packet.c. (CVE-2022-37032)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the frr packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 7.5.1-1.1+deb11u1.
