Adobe Creative Cloud < 5.10.0 Arbitrary code execution (APSB23-21)

high Nessus Plugin ID 172541

Synopsis

The Adobe Creative Cloud instance installed on the remote host is affected by an arbitrary code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe Creative Cloud installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 5.10.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the APSB23-21 advisory.

- Creative Cloud version 5.9.1 (and earlier) is affected by an Untrusted Search Path vulnerability that might allow attackers to execute their own programs, access unauthorized data files, or modify configuration in unexpected ways. If the application uses a search path to locate critical resources such as programs, then an attacker could modify that search path to point to a malicious program, which the targeted application would then execute. The problem extends to any type of critical resource that the application trusts. (CVE-2023-26358)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe Creative Cloud version 5.10.0 or later.
