Amazon Linux 2 : python3 (ALAS-2023-1990)

high Nessus Plugin ID 173207

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python3 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.7.16-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-1990 advisory.

An issue in the urllib.parse component of Python before v3.11 allows attackers to bypass blocklisting methods by supplying a URL that starts with blank characters. (CVE-2023-24329)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update python3' to update your system.
