Synopsis

Remote host is affected by a xss vulnerability.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-22-224 advisory.

- An improper neutralization of input during web page generation [CWE-79] vulnerability in FortiOS versions 7.0.0 to 7.0.7 and 7.2.0 to 7.2.3 may allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to launch a cross site scripting (XSS) attack via the redir parameter of the URL seen when the Sign in with FortiCloud button is clicked. (CVE-2022-41334)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Fortigate version 7.0.8 / 7.2.4 or later.
