Amazon Linux 2 : ldns (ALAS-2023-2032)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 175022

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of ldns installed on the remote host is prior to 1.6.16-10. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2032 advisory.

- When ldns version 1.7.1 verifies a zone file, the ldns_rr_new_frm_str_internal function has a heap out of bounds read vulnerability. An attacker can leak information on the heap by constructing a zone file payload. (CVE-2020-19860)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update ldns' to update your system.
