Debian DSA-5413-1 : sniproxy - security update

critical Nessus Plugin ID 176431

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5413 advisory.

- A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the handling of wildcard backend hosts of SNIProxy 0.6.0-2 and the master branch (commit: 822bb80df9b7b345cc9eba55df74a07b498819ba). A specially crafted HTTP or TLS packet can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker could send a malicious packet to trigger this vulnerability. (CVE-2023-25076)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the sniproxy packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 0.6.0-2+deb11u1.
