Synopsis

An application running on a remote web server host is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of Splunk installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SVD-2023-0609 advisory.

- In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.0.5, 8.2.11, and 8.1.14, and in Splunk Cloud Platform versions below 9.0.2303.100, a low-privileged user can perform an unauthorized transfer of data from a search using the copyresults' command if they know the search ID (SID) of a search job that has recently run.
(CVE-2023-32710)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For Splunk Enterprise, upgrade versions to 8.1.14, 8.2.11, 9.0.5, or higher.
For Splunk Cloud Platform, Splunk is actively patching and monitoring the Splunk Cloud instances.
