Amazon Linux 2023 : byacc (ALAS2023-2023-204)

high Nessus Plugin ID 176917

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2023-2023-204 advisory.

When processing files, malloc stores the data of the current line. When processing comments, malloc incorrectly accesses the released memory (use after free). (CVE-2021-33641)

When a file is processed, an infinite loop occurs in next_inline() of the more_curly() function.
(CVE-2021-33642)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'dnf update byacc --releasever 2023.0.20230607' to update your system.
