Description

The remote Ubuntu 23.04 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6181-1 advisory.

An attacker could possibly use this issue to maliciously modify the response a user would receive from a vulnerable application. This issue only affected Ubuntu 22.10.
(CVE-2021-33621)

It was discovered that Ruby incorrectly handled certain regular expressions. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2023-28755, CVE-2023-28756)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libruby3.1, ruby3.1 and / or ruby3.1-dev packages.
