Synopsis

The remote service is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of OpenSSL installed on the remote host is prior to 0.9.7f. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 0.9.7f advisory.

- The der_chop script in the openssl package in Trustix Secure Linux 1.5 through 2.1 and other operating systems allows local users to overwrite files via a symlink attack on temporary files. (CVE-2004-0975)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to OpenSSL version 0.9.7f or later.
