Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote host is prior to 5.4.247-162.350. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2KERNEL-5.4-2023-048 advisory.

 - An issue was found in the Linux kernel's IPv6 TCP connection tracking code, which could lead to high CPU usage with certain traffic patterns. (CVE-2023-1206) (CVE-2023-1206)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update kernel' to update your system.
