Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of protobuf-c installed on the remote host is prior to 1.0.2-3. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2142 advisory.

- protobuf-c before 1.4.1 has an unsigned integer overflow in parse_required_member. (CVE-2022-48468)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update protobuf-c' to update your system.
