Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of iperf3 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.1.7-2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2153 advisory.

- iperf3 before 3.14 allows peers to cause an integer overflow and heap corruption via a crafted length field. (CVE-2023-38403)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update iperf3' to update your system.
