Synopsis

The Microsoft Office Web Apps installation on the remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The Microsoft Office Web Apps installation on the remote host is missing a security update. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

 - Microsoft Office is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability. (CVE-2023-35371)

 - Microsoft Excel is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability. (CVE-2023-36896)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Microsoft has released KB5002435 to address this issue.
