Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of avahi installed on the remote host is prior to 0.6.25-12.19. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1790 advisory.

 - A reachable assertion was found in avahi_dns_packet_append_record. (CVE-2023-38469) (CVE-2023-38469, CVE-2023-38470, CVE-2023-38471)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update avahi' to update your system.
