FreeBSD : py-Scrapy -- DoS vulnerability (4eb5dccb-923c-4f18-9cd4-b53f9e28d4d7)

high Nessus Plugin ID 180372

Language:

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 4eb5dccb-923c-4f18-9cd4-b53f9e28d4d7 advisory.

- Scrapy 1.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via large files because arbitrarily many files are read into memory, which is especially problematic if the files are then individually written in a separate thread to a slow storage resource, as demonstrated by interaction between dataReceived (in core/downloader/handlers/http11.py) and S3FilesStore. (CVE-2017-14158)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
