Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ELSA-2019-2336 advisory.

 - The SQLWriteFileDSN function in odbcinst/SQLWriteFileDSN.c in unixODBC 2.3.5 has strncpy arguments in the wrong order, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact. (CVE-2018-7485)

 - In unixODBC before 2.3.5, there is a buffer overflow in the unicode_to_ansi_copy() function in DriverManager/__info.c. (CVE-2018-7409)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected unixODBC and / or unixODBC-devel packages.
