Synopsis

The remote host is missing a macOS update that fixes a vulnerability

Description

The remote host is running a version of macOS / Mac OS X that is 12.x prior to 12.6.9. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability:

- A buffer overflow issue was addressed with improved memory handling. This issue is fixed in macOS Ventura 13.5.2, iOS 16.6.1 and iPadOS 16.6.1. Processing a maliciously crafted image may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited. (CVE-2023-41064)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the operating system's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to macOS 12.6.9 or later.
