Apache Solr < 8.6.0 Information Disclosure (CVE-2020-13941)

high Nessus Plugin ID 181479

Synopsis

The remote web server contains a Java application that is affected by an information disclosure vulnerability.

Description

The version of Apache Solr running on the remote host is prior to 8.6.0. It is, therefore, affected by an information disclosure vulnerability. The Replication handler allows commands backup, restore and deleteBackup. Each of these take a location parameter, which was not validated, i.e you could read/write to any location the solr user can access.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Apache Solr version 8.6 or later.
