Synopsis

The remote Windows host contains a library that is affected by a buffer overflow vulnerability.

Description

A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Artifex Ghostscript prior to 10.2.0 due to a flaw found in base/gdevdevn.c:1973 in devn_pcx_write_rle(). This issue may allow a local attacker to cause a denial of service via outputting a crafted PDF file for a DEVN device with gs.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Artifex Ghostscript 10.2.0 or later.
