Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of ImageMagick installed on the remote host is prior to 6.9.10.97-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2253 advisory.

 - A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in ImageMagick in versions prior to 7.0.10-31 in ReadSVGImage() in coders/svg.c. This issue is due to not checking the return value from libxml2's xmlCreatePushParserCtxt() and uses the value directly, which leads to a crash and segmentation fault.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update ImageMagick' to update your system.
