Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 23.04 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-6395-1 advisory.

Mickael Karatekin discovered that GNOME Shell incorrectly allowed the screenshot tool to view open windows when a session was locked. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to obtain sensitive information.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected gnome-shell, gnome-shell-common and / or gnome-shell-extension-prefs packages.
